3MT Information Session

Course description

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT ®) competition celebrates the exciting research conducted by Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students. Developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), 3MT cultivates students’ academic, presentation, and research communication skills. The competition supports PhD students capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. It is a chance for Flinders’ PhD students to share their ground-breaking research with their colleagues at Flinders and around the world.

Flinders University PhD students are invited to compete to promote their research, develop their communication skills, boost their career and be in the running to win the 2026 Asia-Pacific 3MT prize of a $5,000 research grant.

This information session will provide you with an overview of the 3MT competition, including:

  • the rules
  • judging criteria
  • hot tips for students
  • dates for university heats

You will also have an opportunity to ask questions to past finalists about their 3MT experience.

For more information about the 3MT competition and dates, refer to the REST FLO site and the 3MT Website  or contact researcher.development@flinders.edu.au

This session will be held in Alere North, the Hub, Level 2, Bedford Park. If you are unable to attend in person, there will be a Teams option available. Please contact researcher.development@flinders.edu.au for the link
