Learning Analytics Symposium

Course description

Learning analytics is the process of collecting, analyzing, and reporting data about learners and their learning environment to understand and improve learning outcomes. It involves using data to gain insights into how people learn, identify areas for improvement in learning experiences, and make data-driven decisions about educational strategies. Effective use of learning analytics can lead to the following outcomes:

  • More personalized learning
  • Improved learning outcomes
  • Enhanced Course design
  • Early Intervention
  • Optimized resource allocation

In this symposium, you will learn about initiatives at Flinders that utilize learning analytics tools to better support student engagement and learning. Our keynote, Professor Deborah West will provide an overview of strategic initiatives she has led since 2011 at various Australian institutions and internationally which have leveraged learning analytics for better student outcomes. You will also work on your own learning analytics plan to draw on the affordances of available data.

Modality:

This is a face to face on campus presentation. The keynote will be recorded, but workshop activities will occur in the Physical Room only. There will be future events focussed on an online audience.
