Elective Workshop: Helping Doctoral Students to Plan their Career

Course description

This workshop focuses on the possible roles of supervisors in helping candidates to make the transition to life after the PhD. Candidates come to doctoral research with a wide variety of expectations and ambitions and possible destinations. Most are likely to require support and assistance to move on to the next phases of their career. The workshop will explore questions around how and what support the supervisor could give to candidates, when the transition process should start and how might the candidate and supervisor benefit from a planned transition. This is an elective workshop and is part of the Postgraduate Research Supervisors program. Participants must choose 2 electives to complete the course.
