Drop-In Sessions: Defence Export Controls

Course description

The Defence Exports Officer, Research Development and Support (RDS), will be holding twice monthly drop-in sessions for interested researchers and research support staff.

These sessions are designed to enable staff to receive one-on-one assistance or advice on:

  • Australian export control regulations;
  • Utilising the Defence and Strategic Goods List (DSGL) online tool to self-assess;
  • Applying for a Defence Export Controls (DEC) technology assessment or permit application;
  • Importing, exporting or transporting biological goods; and
  • Australian sanctions.

The Defence Exports Officer will be available from 10am to 11am on the first and third Thursday of each month.

Who should attend

Academic and support staff who:

  1. Are involved in DSGL research areas.
  2. Employ or collaborate with citizens from sanctioned countries.
  3. Plan on importing, exporting or transporting biological goods.

What you will learn

Gain a better understanding of how export controls and/or sanctions regulations apply to your area of research, as well as the types of services available from RDS (e.g. DSGL assessment and permit applications, sanctions permit applications and biosecurity permits) to assist in ensuring your research is compliant with relevant regulations.
