Foreign Interactions for Research

Course description

Staff engaging in any activity or partnership on behalf of or with a foreign government, university, business or any other foreign organisation or entity as part of their University business must evaluate the proposed activity or partnership for the risk of foreign interference, foreign influence and/or statutory reporting or regulatory obligations.

This information session will give the research community an overview of how this affects research involving foreign parties.

Presented by Mark Poczman, Governance, Legal and Risk, this session will cover:

  • the basics of foreign interactions, arrangements and interference legislation
  • obligations to declare foreign affiliations under the amended Conflict of Interest Policy
  • how this legislation may affect researchers
  • what you need to do and when
  • how to access information and support

 There will be time for questions and discussion.
