Intellectual Property for Research (CHASS/CEPSW/CBGL)

Course description

Do you want a better understanding of how Intellectual Property (IP) is relevant to your research? For researchers in the humanities, creative arts and social sciences, the concerns about IP (typically, trademarks and copyright) are very different to those in the sciences and health and medical research fields (typically, patents and confidential information).

This session will be for researchers in the humanities, creative arts and social sciences. Researchers in the sciences and health and medical research fields should attend this session instead.

In this session, the Commercialisation team at Flinders University will explore how to:

  • the nature of your IP and options to consider in protecting it
  • the stage and context of your IP and options for progressing its development
  • Potential commercial (or other) pathways for your IP to achieve broad impact
  • Managing factors relating to students, funders, and external partners..

Please note that no prior knowledge of IP is required to attend this session and you can bring your project to discuss with the team.    Please bring questions relating to IP in your project and join us for an informal discussion where the Commercialisation Team will engage directly with each participant regarding their IP and project. The many real examples of your colleagues will help broaden the knowledge of all participants

This session will be held in person in ?????, Level 1, Central Library. Rural and remote colleagues or those who are unable to attend in person, please contact researcher.development@flinders.edu.au.
