Cited, Seen, and Shared: Growing the Impact of Your Research

Course description

This session is designed to help researchers get their work into the hands of the people who need to read it. Suitable for researchers at any career stage, it offers practical strategies to strengthen research visibility, use, and impact.

Led by Flinders' Library Specialist (Scholarly Communication) Hannah Foster, the session focuses on improving access, discoverability, and meaningful engagement with research, so it can be read, used, and built upon.

The session explores how thoughtful open access choices can remove barriers to readership and make research easier to find and share. It also provides a practical overview of open access options at Flinders, including:

  • publishing openly and understanding your options
  • using institutional and disciplinary repositories
  • navigating publisher policies and funder requirements.

The workshop also considers how wider access can lead to clearer evidence of research uptake—often reflected in more diverse and discoverable citation patterns, which are increasingly relevant in grant and reporting contexts.

In addition, the session covers simple, effective ways to share your work responsibly, such as:

  • researcher profiles and persistent identifiers
  • good sharing practices after publication.

This session will be run online via MS Teams. A link will be sent to you via calendar invitation prior to the session.
