ARC Discovery Projects EOI Information Session

Course description

Are you interested in applying for a Discovery Project from the Australian Research Council (ARC)?

As you may already be aware, earlier this year there were some major changes to the Discovery Projects scheme for funding commencing in 2025 (and beyond). The scheme now runs as a two-stage application process, beginning with an Expression of Interest (EOI) comprised of a 2-page project description and a streamlined ROPE section.

Presented by Professor Gavin Prideaux (College of Science and Engineering and an ARC College of Experts member), this information session is designed to help you write a compelling and concise EOI. Gavin will be joined by two other College of Experts members with experience in reviewing EOIs: Professor Matt Fitzpatrick (College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences) and Professor Michael Wenzel (College of Education, Psychology and Social Work).

The presenters will explore:

  • The overview of the EOI guidelines and requirements from the latest round,
  • Advice for writing your project description,
  • Advice for writing about your team and ROPE, and
  • Lessons learned from their experience in reviewing EOIs in the latest round.

Please note that we are holding this session before the DPEI26 guidelines are released so you can start working on your EOI early. We will flag any changes to the guidelines when they are released (likely October 2024).

This session will be run in-person in the Physical Sciences 004 Teaching Space. There will also be an online option. You will receive a calendar invitation with further details prior to the session.
