Canva Basics for Research: create clear, engaging visuals

Course description

Designed for first‑time users, the session will provide step‑by‑step guidance to using Canva. You can follow along with the instructor to develop your own research‑related visual, and gain practical skills that you can apply to design research presentations, posters, and communications.

Led by Tamika Regnier, Research Support Officer in Research, Development & Support, you will learn how to:

  • Access and navigate the Canva platform
  • Use the free version effectively and get the most out of its features
  • Apply Flinders University colours and branding to your designs
  • Use templates to create polished, professional visuals quickly
  • Incorporate key visual components such as images, icons, and text
  • Share your designs and download files in appropriate formats.

By the end of the session, you will have the confidence and foundational skills to continue using Canva independently.

This session will run via MS Teams. A link will be sent to you via calendar invitation prior to the session.
