PLEASE NOTE: this session has been created to cater for rural and remote participants. If you are not based in a rural or remote location, please register for the in-person version of this workshop at Bedford Park here.
Join Dr Jen Beaudry (Manager, Researcher Training, Development and Communication) to look at how you can craft a more compelling CV. This session will be helpful for researchers planning to apply for promotion, prizes and awards, grants or even a new position.
If you’re anything like most academics, you have a very long CV that is a long list of your publications, grants, students, reviewing activities, etc. The problem is that the everything-I-have-ever-done-CV probably doesn’t tell the most compelling story about your achievements, accomplishments, and research interests. It also probably doesn’t make it very easy for members of selection and promotion committees to get a quick snapshot of what you’ve done and how you meet the relevant criteria.
In this session, we will:
To make this session as useful and engaging as possible, please have your CV ready to share with fellow participants in a break out room.
If you do not want to share your CV with others, please let me know. You’re welcome to join us regardless.
Testimonial from a previous participant: “The CV workshop helped me to tailor my CV to positions both within and outside of academia. Jen’s teaching and support as well as engaging with my small working group helped me instantly put the learning into practice. I came away from the workshop with an improved CV and a better understanding of how to ‘sell myself’ for future work. This new way of presenting my research achievements has helped immensely in my grant applications as well.”
