OneDrive - Support Training

Course description

Overview

OneDrive will be made available to all Staff in April 2017 as the approved, certified and supported collaboration platform. Students already have access to OneDrive, however we will be advertising the features of the platform in the coming months.

Getting Started with OneDrive

OneDrive will be made available to you, to access the OneDrive interface login to flinders.okta.com and you will see a OneDrive icon. You can also download the OneDrive Sync Client to your University or personal computer https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-au/download/.
A new OneDrive support website has been published to help you get started: http://www.flinders.edu.au/its/essentials/onedrive-for-business/onedrive-for-business_home.cfm. The site will provide useful tips and instructions for using the features of OneDrive, including how you can use it to support your daily work. Further training and videos are being prepared to be deployed alongside the platform release in April to ensure staff can get the most out of the platform.

  • How to set it up on your devices
  • Sync Client (status of sync)
  • Uploading/removing files
  • Versions and recovery
  • Recovering deleted files
  • Opening documents in native word (PC/Mac)
  • Selective Syn
  • File name/length errors
Research:
  •  Co-Authoring a document with a non-Flinders researcher (showing cross platform Mac/PC collaboration);
  • Creating workspaces for multiple researchers or RHD students to collaborate in;
  • Co-Authoring/feedback to research papers being worked on by RHD students.
Teaching & Learning:
  • Co-Authoring/feedback between supervisor and PHD/masters students (things like theses, grant/project work, any other documents);
  • Sharing documents or collaborating on course content changes with other staff.
Professional Staff:
Creating OneDrive groups for:  
  • Creating a project collaboration space with shared conversations, review of a report etc;
  • Inviting non-Flinders contractor/consultant to collaborate on a set of files (and removing access after);
  • Increasing teams visibility, responsiveness and collaboration via OneDrive group.
