Laser Safety Training

Course description

This course will outline the importance of, and the techniques for using lasers safely.  This is for general laser safety concepts and where specific training is required for lasers, this must be obtained form the manufacturer of the laser.

This topic will discuss:

  • Types of Lasers
  • Laser Specifications
  • Laser Hazards
  • Laser Control Measures

These topics are intended to increase awareness of laser hazards and risks and safety measures that must be taken to ensure safety of laser users and those that work around them.

Staff, postgraduate and honours students who use powerful lasers in scientific experiments, surveying, alignments etc.  Especially those that are using Class 3 or 4 Laser Equipment.
