ARC DECRA: Strategies to write and submit a successful application

Course description

This session will help early career researchers to prepare an application for the Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) scheme from the Australian Research Council (ARC). Join us for this session to learn more about eligibility criteria and get strategic advice and top tips from researchers.

Presented by Brad Budgen, Senior Research Grants Officer, this session will cover:

  • What the scheme offers to recipients,
  • Eligibility and application timing considerations,
  • Application tips,
  • Support available to applicants,
  • How to design a competitive project, and,
  • How to write a strong application.
Brad will be joined by Dr Claire Henry (2024 DECRA recipient) and Professor Rob Edwards who has experience as an ARC College of Experts member.

You are encouraged to attend this session if you are planning to apply for a DECRA from the ARC. 

This session will be run via MS Teams. A link will be sent to you via calendar invitation prior to the session.
