FY CoP: Student Success and Engagement in the First-Year Experience

Course description

This workshop explores contemporary approaches to supporting student success and engagement in the first year of university. Drawing on current understandings of student transition, the session will examine the evolving characteristics, expectations, and support needs of today's university students, and consider practical strategies for fostering belonging, engagement, and success at scale. Particular attention will be given to initiatives that can be effectively implemented in topics with large student cohorts, as well as approaches for supporting students as they transition into and beyond the first year experience. The workshop will also reflect on the role of reflexive practice in understanding the lived realities of first-year students and how these insights can inform responsive, evidence-informed transitional pedagogies.

This is a Flinders Learning and Teaching Academy supported event.

This is an in person only event.
