Randomised Trials: Introduction to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) workshop

Course description

Are you planning to run a randomised trial, or would like to learn more about their conduct?  If so, this FREE TransCelerate-accredited GCP course is for you.

NOTE:  Self-paced online GCP training modules are also available as an alternative to the live workshops.  Please click here for access.

Good Clinical Practice is an international standard for the design, conduct, performance, monitoring, auditing, recording, analysis and reporting of randomised trials that involve humans. GCP applies to all trials, irrespective of the intervention. GCP also serves to protect the rights, integrity, safety, and confidentiality of trial participants.

All Flinders University staff involved in running a randomised trial should have GCP training, and a valid GCP certificate.

The course will deliver content developed by Sophie Mepham, an accredited TransCelerate teacher, and includes group work and quizzes. There are 5 modules, covering the following topics:

  • The principles and background of GCP
  • Roles and responsibilities in trials
  • Informed Consent
  • Essential Records, Source Records and Case Report Forms
  • Safety reporting

Please note that a requirement for receiving your GCP certificate (valid for 3 years) is that you:

1) always have your computer camera on (as proof that you were in the class),
2) engage in the group discussions, and
3) pass the online GCP quizzes.

Class size: A maximum of 30 attendees.
Cost: Free
