Research Data Collection and Management Using REDCap

Course description

If you are beginning a new research project requiring data collection, particularly if you will be collecting health or personal data with privacy considerations, have you considered how you will collect and store that data?

Flinders University provides several tools for data collection, one of which is REDCap, which is designed for clinical research data collection, accessible online to authorised users.

Presented by Dr Kelly Lofflersenior research fellow based in the Health Data and Clinical Trials unit (CMPH), this session will discuss:

  • general considerations for planning research data collection and data management plans
  • options for research data collection tools and software and their pros and cons
  • introduction to using REDCap for data entry, and for designing data collection tools in REDCap, with “hands-on” examples

Please note: To participate in the “hands-on” part of the training session, you will need to have a REDCap user account.

If you don't already have a REDCap account, please submit a Service One request to obtain access to REDCap. Please allow up to one week for IDS to action this request. Once your request is approved, you will need to access REDCap via OKTA to activate your account.

This session will be run online via MS Teams. A link will be sent to you via calendar invitation prior to the session.

Please email the Researcher Training, Development and Communication team at researcherpd.rds@flinders.edu.au if you have any questions.
