Recruitment guide for hiring managers

Course description

This session has been designed to build awareness of Flinders University recruitment procedures, and to instil confidence in our hiring managers, (in conjunction with our recruitment team) to conduct a best practice, successful recruitment process.

We will cover:

  • Identifying position needs, and how to process a request
  • How the recruitment team works in concert with you to achieve the best outcome
  • What a standard recruitment campaign looks like
  • Managing your advertised position once the ad has closed
  • Conducting the interview
  • Reference checking
  • Compliance requirements
  • Hiring the candidate in

Who should attend

All managers/supervisors who will have hiring responsibilities should attend this information session.

Anyone who actively takes part in, or assists with, the recruitment process, (such as panel members and support staff) are also highly encouraged to attend.

We understand there is a lot to absorb in your first few weeks at Flinders, so in the case of new hiring managers, if the next available course is in your first month, please register for the following session.

What you will learn

This training will provide you with an understanding of the recruitment lifecycle, from how to request a new position to acceptance of the employment agreement and completion of hire of your new team member.
