Pitch your Research: Speed-Dating Style
Course description
Learn how to develop a clear and concise pitch to describe your research over timed, one-on-one conversations.
This fun networking event is designed to help you meet and establish connections across the Flinders research community. Researchers from all Colleges and all career stages are welcome.
To begin the session, Yaz Dedovic, Media Relations Manager, will present a 'how to pitch' workshop. He will help you develop a clear and concise pitch to describe your research. Yaz will be joined by a researcher, who will share their own pitch and help our researchers refine their pitches.
Next, you will put these skills into practice in a speed dating style activity in which you will be able to discuss your research with others and explore possible collaborations.
There will be time at the end for informal conversations over light refreshments.
One of the successful outcomes was shared with us by past participant Dr Lauren Woolbright:
"I was fortunate enough to end up paired with a colleague from a different college whose research aligned so well with mine that we immediately started collaborating on a project together. We might not have met otherwise. I am so grateful that we had this opportunity to connect our work across the borders of our Colleges."
This session will be held in the Alere Function Centre, L2, Student Hub. Please join us at 9:45am for a 10:00am start.
