Forward Planning for Research Impact & Adoption

Course description

Foundations of Impact and Engagement webinar

Research impact does not happen by chance. It requires early thinking about who your research is for, how it could be used, what change it might support, and what actions can help move it beyond publication into practice, policy, industry, community, or public benefit.

This 90-minute introductory webinar is designed for researchers who want a clearer, more practical way to begin planning for research translation and adoption.

This interactive session will help you:

  • gain familiarity with core concepts of research impact, engagement, translation, and adoption, with a focus on a practical approach to aligning research questions and translation, adoption and impact focused research outcomes.
  • a key output of the session is a succinct impact statement for a current or emerging research project. This statement can be used as a foundation for grant applications, project planning, stakeholder conversations, impact narratives, engagement strategies, or further impact development work.
  • begin identifying who could benefit from your research, what kinds of change your work could contribute to, and what early engagement actions may help create the conditions for future impact.
  • identify practical next steps for strengthening engagement and increasing the likelihood of research output adoption and impact.

By the end of the session, participants will leave with a clearer understanding of impact planning and a practical draft impact statement that helps connect their research to real-world use, benefit, and change.

Delivered by Emily Chang, Co-founder and Partner at Cruxes Innovation. This session will be run online via Zoom. A link will be sent to you via calendar invitation prior to the session.
